Message from Current President

Dear BHJS friends,

This summer is sizzling hot, I trust that you are taking advantage of the weather and partaking in many outdoor activities, be it sunbathing at the beach, escaping to the cottage, soaking in the swimming pool, cruising or simply staying at home taking it easy.

Since our last Annual Dinner held on April 10, 2011, the Executive Committee has been busy organizing the Summer BBQ that will take place at Heydenshore Park. This time we are also planning to visit the Parkwood Estate in Oshawa. It is the former residence of the founder of GM and is one of Canada’s finest remaining grand estates which is certainly a worthwhile visit. We may even have the opportunity to enjoy an afternoon “high tea”.

In the Annual General Meeting, May Ho decided to resign from the Committee of 2011-2012 and I was honoured to be invited to the seat of presidency. May has been a strong leader during the past five years from 2005-2010. Under her leadership, we learned much, achieved a great deal and enjoyed many memorable moments together.

As we move forward, it is important to look back and recognize our accomplishments. I wish to thank the efforts of the previous Executive Committee. Through the media advertisements and events, we added 8 new members to our roster including 6 members from the United States and a young member from the class of 2009, bring our membership to a grand total of 204 alumni. Please join me in giving a warm welcome to our newest members:

Mannie Lam (2009)
William Cheung (1980)
Christine Wong (1977)
Thomas Cheung (1969)
Lemuel Leung (1969)
Thomas Siu (1969)
Raymond Yiu (1969)
Siu Kam Woon (1967)

I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome Paul Ka Po Fung (1970) and Joseph Chai Ping Lau (1971) to the Board.

On behalf of the Executive Committee, I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation to May Ho, who dedicated much of her time and effort to serve the alumni by chairing the Committee for five years. I am thrilled that May has agreed to remain as our Advisor as she is an invaluable asset to the Committee and the alumni.

While continuing to enhance our renowned objectives, we must work harder to improve and to achieve our goal as in our Memorandum and Articles.of BHJS Canada Alumni. Remember “I Was Not Born To Myself Alone”

Again, our continuing success is the result of our extraordinary people, alumni like yourself, who are making a difference by giving your support.

Looking forward to seeing you and your family at the upcoming BBQ and wishing you a safe and happy summer!

Christina Chan
President 2011-2012
