Dear BHJS friends,
For the past few months many of us have the deepest heartfelt of what happened in Hong Kong. As BHJS Alumni member I hope things will work out the best and restore Hong Kong to its name of “Pearl of the Orient”. Let us welcome 2020 with new hopes and strengths no matter where you are.
Since our last Annual Dinner held on April 06, 2019, the Executive Committee had been busy organizing the Trial Walk and Lunch Event that took place on September 14, 2019 in German’s Mill Park/Pickle Barrel. Everyone had a great time enjoying the scenery and food. Our present Principal Lily Wong visited us in Toronto in July and we shared many ideas and precious moments of the growth of our mother school. I had the honor of being invited to attend the 56th Speech Day on December 7, 2019 and I received my High School Diploma after 45 years. Of course many of the members also spent much time enjoying retirement and travelling around the world, then sharing precious moments of life with friends and families.
In the Annual General Meeting of 2019, Christina Chan decided to step down from the President and I was honored to be invited to the seat of presidency. Under her leadership from 2011-2019, we learned much, achieved a great deal and enjoyed many memorable moments together.
On behalf of the Executive Committee, I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation to Christina Chan, who dedicated much of her time and effort to serve the alumni by chairing the Committee for 9 years. She also have a beautiful voice and we have many opportunities to be invited to her concerts which she raised money for different charitable associations. I do not believe I shall ever surpass her compassion for BHJS Alumni or for our community and I shall do my best to follow her steps. As a newcomer for this presidency there are much for me to learn from her and the Executive Committee. I am so happy that Christina agreed to remain in the Alumni Executive Committee as an Honorary Advisor.
As we move forward, it is important to look back and recognize our accomplishments. I wish to thank the efforts of the Executive Committee. They are the “Pillars” of BHJS Canada Alumni. Through their dedication and effort towards the Alumni, we are able to keep the spirits of BHJS Alumni and maintain relationship with our mother school. I hope we will be able to continue this spirit for the next decade and more. Needless to say, our continuing success is the result of our extraordinary people, alumni like yourself, who are making a difference by giving your support.
Looking forward to seeing you and your family at the upcoming AGM Dinner and wishing you a happy and healthy year ahead of you.
Adonza Chan
President 2019-2021
